We all see the amazing artwork that's posted and by viewing the artists profiles, we can easily see that the one artwork we saw wasn't a fluke, they're talented.
But I wonder how they feel.
Once they've nailed the anatomy, figured out all the perspectives and learned how to REALLY convey what they're feeling in their drawings, then what?
I just wonder how it feels knowing that when you pick up your pencil, that you could possibly create something amazing. And nearly everyone who sees it will whistle in appreciation.
I know everyone is capable of it but a comment an artist I watch made me stop and think. They had recently purchased a new sketchbook and the piece that was posted was their first sketch.
Their FIRST sketch and it looked friggin AMAZING.
How does that happen? Knowing that when you pick up some sort of drawing utensil, that you know you'll create something wonderful?
As you get better, your standards raise of course. You see flaws that most overlook and you try to perfect your work even more even though to everyone else, it already is perfect.
I suppose I'm just wondering how it feels to KNOW you can create something that is appealing to the eye and to KNOW that you'll gain recognition for it.
I'm flabbergasted just thinking about this. Lol
But then it also makes you wonder how anyone succeeds in the art business. dA doesn't even represent a THIRD of all the talented artists out there.
If you dream of becoming an artist, you get your first taste of the level of competition right here. By merely browsing you see what's out there and what level they're at.
I've dreamed of having my own manga published and sold of course, who hasn't? But by just looking at dA I realize that that dream is next to IMPOSSIBLE. Lol
I'm not being pessimistic, I'm being realistic. My talent doesn't even register among some of the artists here. There's no blip on the radar for me. Lol
It makes you realize that my half fanciful notions don't cut it in the real world of art. You have to be good, you have to lucky, and you have to work hard.
I only partially want my own published manga while others would KILL for it. Day dreamers can't survive in the art world. Lol True artists who want to actually earn a respectable profit from their work have to FIGHT. FOR. IT.
Who would have guessed all these thoughts would come from ONE comment an artist made? LOL
Am I suggesting we all give up and go sulk in a corner? Of course not! Lol
I draw because I enjoy it. That's why most people stick with art, because they enjoy it.
I'm just saying that people who make art their profession are crazy. Lol I wish them the best of luck but I'm going to assume that 8/10 of them will be rejected from making it to the top.
It almost makes you wonder why you draw. You enjoy it yes, but there comes a point where you're just drawing for fun, to where you're doing it for a purpose.
What purpose? Why is there a need to better your skills if you just enjoy drawing? Lol There isn't, not really.
Lol I don't know what I'm saying anymore. I'm going to stop and do something...else now. Lol
